About El Shaddai:

The El Shaddai Prayer Community is a Catholic charismatic renewal movement that originated in the Philippines. Founded by Brother Mike Velarde in 1984, this community aims to bring believers together for prayer, worship, and evangelization. Central to the community's identity is the emphasis on experiencing the power and love of God, which they express through vibrant prayer gatherings, Bible sharing, and communal worship. The name "El Shaddai," meaning "God Almighty," encapsulates their focus on God’s greatness and provision in their lives.

One significant aspect of the El Shaddai Prayer Community is its commitment to fostering a personal relationship with God through prayer. Members engage in various forms of prayer, including praise and worship, intercessory prayer, and the recitation of the Rosary. This aligns with Catholic teachings on the importance of prayer as a means to encounter God and deepen one’s faith life. The community emphasizes that prayer is not just a personal endeavor but a communal experience, reflecting the Church's call to pray together for the needs of all.

The El Shaddai community also plays a vital role in evangelization and outreach. They conduct missions and gatherings that invite individuals from all walks of life to experience God's love. This outreach is often characterized by joyous celebrations that include testimonies of faith, healing services, and encouragement in living a Christian life. By embodying the spirit of the Beatitudes, the community seeks to bring the message of hope and salvation to those who may feel marginalized or lost.

Furthermore, the El Shaddai Prayer Community highlights the importance of living out one's faith through action. Members are encouraged to serve their local communities, participate in charitable works, and support one another in their spiritual journeys. This service-oriented approach reflects the Catholic understanding of faith being active and expressed in love. The community sees itself as a living testament to God's provision and grace, helping others to recognize and embrace their own faith journeys.

In summary, the El Shaddai Prayer Community holds significant importance within the Catholic faith as a movement that emphasizes prayer, community, and service. It provides a space for believers to encounter God in a profound way, encouraging both personal and communal growth in faith. Through vibrant worship and outreach, the community embodies the call to live out the Gospel message, inviting others to experience the fullness of life in Christ.
