A devastating series of earthquakes struck north-central Venezuela on June 24, 2026, making it the country's largest seismic disaster in more than a century. Two powerful earthquakes—a magnitude of 7.2 followed just 39 seconds later with a magnitude of 7.5 near Yumare/San Felipe in Yaracuy State, causing catastrophic damage across much of the country.
As of June 29, official reports indicate more than 1,400 people have died, 3,000 people have been injured, thousands are reported missing and tens of thousands of families have been left homeless.
“For all those affected by the recent earthquake in Venezuela, may the Lord comfort those who have lost loved ones, and provide strength to those displaced”.
